Quelque 422 migrants, pour la plupart originaires d’Afrique subsaharienne, ont été sauvés au cours de plusieurs opérations de recherche et de sauvetage en mer Méditerranée entre les 4 et 5 février et ils ont débarqué lundi en Italie, selon l’ONG SOS Méditerranée.
L’ONG a indiqué qu’un petit nombre de ces migrants, 49 au total, avaient été testés positifs à la Covid-19 et dû être placés à l’isolement sur le pont arrière du navire. Une femme enceinte a également été évacuée en urgence par hélicoptère vers Malte. Après plusieurs jours d’attente, les autorités italiennes ont finalement autorisé le navire de SOS Méditerranée à entrer dans le port sicilien d’Augusta dans la nuit de dimanche à lundi.
